Spaceships

A spaceship in Conway's Game of Life is a pattern that rebuilds itself a little further along every few generations, so it glides across the grid forever. Here are some of my favorites, plus a cool rare oscillator.

Three of them had never come out of a soup on Catagolue, the shared census of Life objects, so I took it upon myself to give them funny names :). Everything travels upward, and the view follows along.

Speeds and periods were verified with lifelib, and novelty was checked against Catagolue object pages on 2026-09-27. "Unseen on Catagolue" means no sample soup has ever produced the object. It does not rule out an earlier search result posted elsewhere. Engine and tail colouring is by row in the co-moving frame, using the cut where the front alone is still a c/4 spaceship.
